Breastfeeding Support Group

We run a weekly breastfeeding support group throughout the year (including school holidays). We meet:

Thursdays, 9-11am, in the children's library, Ulverston Library, Kings Road, Ulverston, Cumbria

* Please note new finish time - just drop in, any time from 9am till 11am

Please come along for a chat - meet other mums, and talk to trained peer supporters. Our group is friendly and relaxed, and if you wish to bring your toddlers or older children, the children's library has plenty of books, toys, and story sacks to keep them entertained. Just turn up - you don't need to book, and it's free to attend.

We're happy to provide support and information on breastfeeding to everyone who requests it. This includes not only mothers currently breastfeeding, but their families, pregnant women and their partners, and anyone wishing to understand a past breastfeeding experience. You are also very welcome if you would like support with re-lactation (starting breastfeeding again after having stopped).

Books to lend

We have a good selection of books to lend out, and these are very popular with women attending our group. The books include:
  • The Food of Love: Your Formula for Successful Breastfeeding, by Kate Evans
  • Baby-Led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food, by Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett
  • Sleeping with your Baby: A Parent's Guide to Cosleeping, by James McKenna
We have a Facebook page for the Breastfeeding Support Group, which you can find here or go straight to the box below and like our page!
